-Update Courtesy of Misty Tyon on young Ski shred Delaney Tyon: Date 1-6-09

Delaney Tyon's Lakota name Chante Ohitika Hoksila means BraveHeart Boy. This young man who is Oglala-Sioux started skiing when he just one and half years old. Now at the age of seven, Delaney continues his fast rise to the top of the national ski racing scene, after winning last years NASTAR (NAtional STAndard Race) national competition for his age group, by recently winning The Steamboat Cup (Steamboat Spring, Colorado). His mother Misty reports that competition is steeper this year but early season indicators point to yet another exciting season for Delaney. She also reports that he has been working with her by offering ski pointers, reflecting his growing snow wisdom and integrity by sharing this knowledge with others. With more media coverage and video on the way, keep an eye for this outstanding young man as he makes his way in the world of ski racing. Look out Bode Miller!

"Callan is making great progress in her rehab," said U.S. Snowboarding Medical Director Richard Quincy. "While we don't have a return to action date for her, we're excited about her progress. The boardercross season is already under way with southern hemisphere training camp, a Continental Cup and the first World Cup last weekend in Chapelco, Argentina. Callan earned a spot on the podium ('podiumed') with the bronze medal in the Brazilian National Championship Continental Cup.

Callan flying!

She advanced to finals in the World Cup (the field is cut to just the top 16) and was doing well in the first heat of finals, second to Lindsey Jacobellis' lead, when she suffered knee trauma and was unable to finish, resulting in a disappointing 16th place.

She’s a casualty of Hurricane Ike with flights returning home through the Houston airport, so she’s a bit delayed. She’ll train in Colorado for a month with Coach Thedo and the Steamboat Springs ProAm team, and then the first North American Cup race on Nov 15th/16th. US Team Camp comes next, followed by the first of the Jeep King of the Mountain series in Telluride bringing the Paul Mitchell Leader’s bib back from its debut in Alaska, and the second World Cup in Switzerland.
